Description

Charlwood and Byard listed a number of hazards that can be deadly. The authors are from the University of Adelaide in Australia.


 

Factors that can contribute to the hazards of farming:

(1) poor visibility

(2) bad weather (heat, cold, wet)

(3) old equipment or mechanical failure

(4) lack of safety devices (none or removed)

(5) heavy physical demands and exhaustion (during the harvest)

(6) working alone

(7) working remotely

(8) intoxication

(9) inexperience or inadequate training

(10) trying to hurry

(11) dealing with animals
