Behnke et al developed a formula for body surface area based on gluteal girth and body height.
Parameters:
(1) gluteal girth (body circumference over the glutei) in cm
(2) body height in cm
body surface area in square centimeters =
= 1.138 * (gluteal girth in cm) * (body height in cm)
body surface area in square meters =
= (body surface area in square cm) / 10,000
where:
• I wonder if a the formula's performance in women is affected by the body type, especially in the gynoid type (fat accumulation in pelvis and thighs).
