The Finland National Vascular Registry developed a simple score for evaluating patients with severe ischemia of the lower extremity.
Patient selection: peripheral arterial disease of the lower extremity with ischemia
Parameters:
(1) diabetes mellitus
(2) foot gangrene
(3) coronary artery disease (CAD)
(4) urgent revascularization operation for limb ischemia

= SUM(points for the 4 parameters)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 4
• The higher the score the worse the prognosis for the limb and the patient.
In the study of Arvela et al the FINNVASC score was associated with patient survival following revascularizaton surgery.
