Description

Vignali et al identified factors associated with in-stent restenosis of a stented renal artery. Taking these into accounr when stenting a renal artery can reduce the risk of restenosis. The authors are from the University of Pisa.

Parameters:

(1) diameter of the stent in mm

(2) length of the stent in mm

Factors associated with reduced restenosis:

(1) diameter of the stent >= 6 mm

(2) length of the stent from 15 to 20 mm

Stents with both of these factors had the best long-term patency rates.
