The outcome following surgery for chronic venous disease can be assessed based on changes to clinical and laboratory findings.

asymptomatic with marked improvement in both clinical and laboratory findings

mild symptoms but improvements in both clinical and laboratory findings

mild improvement of either clinical or laboratory findings, but not both

both clinical and laboratory findings unchanged

mild worsening of either clinical or laboratory findings, but not both

-1

worsening of both clinical and laboratory findings

marked worsening of both clinical and laboratory findings, AND either new or worsening claudication

where:

• Claudication in the lower extremity involves the ankle.

• Improvement involves both venous refill time and ambulatory venous pressure
