Description

A mixture of two liquified gas propellants will generate a vapor pressure for delivering an aerosol. The vapor pressure can be estimated from knowing the mixture ratio for the two gases and the physical properties of the propellants.

For a X to (100 – X) mixture of propellant 1 to propellant 2:

number of moles for propellant 1 =

= X / (molecular weight of propellant 1)

number of moles for propellant 2 =

= (100 – X) / (molecular weight of propellant 2)

partial pressure for propellant 1 at room temperature in psi =

= (moles of propellant 1) / ((moles of propellant 1) + (moles of propellant 2)) * (vapor pressure for propellant 1 at room temperature in psig)

partial pressure for propellant 2 at room temperature in psi =

= (moles of propellant 2) / ((moles of propellant 1) + (moles of propellant 2)) * (vapor pressure for propellant 2 at room temperature in psig)

total pressure at room temperature in psi =

= (partial pressure for propellant 1) + (partial pressure for propellant 2)
