Description

The Q10 method is based on the energy of activation for a reaction. It can be used to estimate shelf-life for a medication at a given temperature.

estimated shelf-life of drug at a temperature in °C =

= (known shelf-life of drug at a given temperature) / 3 ^ (((new temperature) – (given temperature)) / 10)

where:

• 3 is an estimate for Q10.

Interpretation:

• A new temperature higher than the given temperature will decrease the shelf-life.

• A new temperature lower than the given temperature will increase the shelf-life.
