Description

Cheek reported several equations for predicting Intracellular volume (ICV) for pediatric patients.

Parameters:

(1) gender

(2) body weight in kilograms

(3) height in centimeters

For normal infants (up to 1.5 yeares):

intracellular volume in liters =

= (0.31 * (weight)) + 0.735

= (0.083 * (height)) – 2.54

For normal males (up to 16 years of age):

intracellular volume in liters =

= (0.3236 * (body weight)) + 1.773

= (0.00594 * ((height)^2)) – (1.372 * (height)) + 87.303

For normal females (up to 16 years of age):

intracellular volume in liters =

= (0.3288 * (body weight)) + 0.930

= (0.199 * (height)) – 15.44

= (0.00185 * ((height)^2)) – (0.277 * (height)) + 14.64
