Burton et al described different equations describing the correlation between a person's PaO2 under different high sustained acceleration conditions. The authors are from Brooks Air Force Basse in Texas.
Factors affecting the PaO2:
(1) level of sustained +Gz
(2) duration of exposure
PaO2 in mm Hg =
= 97.5 * EXP((-0.003) * (level of sustained +Gz))
oxygen saturation of arterial blood in percent =
= 99 - (1.59 * (level of sustained +Gz))
With sustained +8 Gz:
PaO2 in mm Hg =
= 104 * ((time at +8 Gz in seconds) ^ (-0.196))
oxygen saturation of arterial blood in percent =
= 96.4 - (0.197 * (time at +8 Gz in seconds))
