Description

The Duke Activity Status Index is a self-administered questionnaire that measures a patient's functional capacity. It can be used to get a rough estimate of a patient's peak oxygen uptake.

The instrument consists of 12 questions.

The responses are yes or no. Each "yes: response is assigned a weighted point score (from 1.75 to 8.00)

Duke activity status index =

= SUM(values for all 12 questions)

Interpretation:

• maximum value 58.2

• minimum value 0

estimated peak oxygen uptake in mL/min =

= (0.43 * (duke activity status index)) + 9.6
