Description

The syndrome of Bronchiolotis Obliterans Organizing Pneumonia (BOOP) may be associated with many causes including drugs.


 

Drugs implicated in cases of BOOP:

(1) amiodarone

(2) acebutalol

(3) sulindac

(4) cocaine

(5) gemcitabine

(6) interferon beta

(7) risedronate

(8) loxoprofen

(9) doxorubicin

 

Antibiotics associated with BOOP:

(1) cephalosporins

(2) minocycline

(3) nutrofurantoin

 

Drugs given for autoimmune disorders (which can cause BOOP):

(1) gold salts

(2) sulphasalazine

(3) bucillamine

 

A drug can be implicated if:

(1) the onset of BOOP occurred after the drug was started

(2) exclusion of other causes of BOOP

(3) improvement after drug discontinued
