Description

A patient with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) may be at increased risk for one or more associated conditions.


 

Conditions that may be associated with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS):

(1) acne vulgaris

(2) acne conglobata

(3) pilonidal sinus

(4) dissecting cellulitis of the scalp

(5) arthritis

(6) steatocystoma multiplex

(7) pityriasis rubra pilaris

(8) pityriasis ruba pilaris associated with HIV disease

(9) pyoderma gangrenosum

 

Syndromes or diseases associated with HS:

(1) SAPHO syndrome (synovitis, acne, pustulosis, hyperostosis, osteitis)

(2) Dowling-Degos disease (flexural pigmented macules on the neck, axilla and groin)

(3) Kitamura disease (reticulate acropigmentation on the hands and feet)

(4) Fox-Fordyce disease
