Gangat et al modified the Dynamic International Prognostic Scoring System (DIPSS, see previous section) with the addition of additional parameters. This can improve its performance. The authors are from the Mayo Clinic, University of Pavia, and the University of Barcelona.
Parameters:
(1) risk groups from the DIPSS
(2) karyotype
(3) platelet count
(4) dependency on red blood cell transfusion

total DIPSS plus score =
= SUM(points for all 4 parameters)
Interpretation:
• minimum score: 0
• maximum score: 6
• The higher the score the worse the prognosis.
