Description

A gradual, painless loss of vision can occur due to a number of conditions.


 

Ophthalmogic disorders associated with a gradual and painless loss of vision:

(1) age-related macular degeneration

(2) cataract

(3) chronic corneal disease

(4) diabetic retinopathy

(5) open angle glaucoma

(6) optic neuropathy

(7) refractive error

(8) chronic retinal disease

 

Autoimmune and vascular causes of a gradual and painless loss of vision:

(1) Behcet’s disease

(2) systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)

(3) Wegener’s granulomatosis

(4) anticardiolipin antibody syndrome (hypercoagulable states)

(5) Eales disease (obliterative vasculopathy_

 

Infectous causes of a gradual and painless loss of vision:

(1) Bartonella henselae

(2) Herpes simplex
