A number of conditions may be associated with a bilateral transient loss or darkening of vision.
Related to decreased perfusion:
(1) systemic hypotension
(2) postural hypotension
(3) heart failure
(4) vasomotor collapse with fainting
(5) severe carotid stenosis (associated with postprandial transient visual loss)
Other conditions:
(1) fatigue
(2) severe hunger
(3) vitamin deficiency
(4) transurethral resection of prostate (TURP) if glycine is used as the irrigating fluid (resulting in elevated serum glycine concentration)
