Goto et al developed a decision tree for evaluating an adult having an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest who has been brought to the Emergency Department. This can help to identify patients with a chance for good neurologic outcome. The authors are from Kanazawa University Hospital and Yawata Medical Center in Japan.
Patient selection: adult with an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest
Outcome: death vs survival at 1 month (30-day)
Parameters:
(1) initial rhythm
(2) age of the patient
(3) witnessing of arrest
