Description

dos Santos et al developed a risk score for non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (ACS). This can identify a patient who may benefit from more aggressive management. The authors are from Instituto Dante Pazzanese de Cardiologia in Sao Paulo.

Patient selection: non-ST segment elevation acute coronary sydrome

Outcome: death or re-infarction within 30 days

Parameters:

(1) age in years

(2) history of diabetes mellitus

(3) history of stroke

(4) history of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEI)

(5) cardiac troponin I AND ECG

(6) serum creatinine in mg/dL

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 30

• The higher the score the greater the risk of a poor outcome.
