Description

Louridas et al reported criteria for the electrocardiographic (ECG) diagnosis of right ventricular hypertrophy. The authors are from the University of Thessaloniki in Greece.

Findings on the ECG to be looked for:

(1) ratio of R/S in V1 is > 1 (alternatively: R or R' > S)

(2) ratio of R/S in V5 or V6 < 1 (alternatively: R < S)

(3) ST segment depression and T wave inversion in V1 and V2

(4) delayed onset (> 0.04 seconds) of the intrinsicoid deflection in lead V1

Right ventricular hypertrophy is present if 2, 3 or 4 of these findings are present.
