Description

The CASPAR (ClASsification of Psoriatic ARthritis, International Multicentre Validation of Diagnostic Criteria for Psoriatic Arthritis) investigators developed clinical criteria for the diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis.


Criteria for the diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis - both of the following:

(1) inflammatory disease of the joints, spinal column or tendons with swelling, pain and/or stiffness

(2) 3 or more of the following:

(2a) psoriasis of the skin

(2b) history of psoriasis

(2c) family history of psoriasis involving a first or second degree relative

(2d) psoriatic nail disease

(2e) rheumatoid factor negative

(2f) dactylitis, with swelling of the entire finger (sausage finger)

(2g) history of dactylitis diagnosed by a rheumatologist

(2h) radiologic evidence of new bone formation near a joint in the hand and/or feet
