Description

Total glycosylated hemoglobin A1 (the glycosylated form of hemoglobin A1) has fractions A1a, A1b and A1c. Krolewski et al listed an equation for converting percent glycohemoglobin A1c to total glycohemoglobin.

From the Methods section for the analytical methods:

percent glycohemoglobin A1c =

= ((percent total glycohemoglobin A1) - 0.14) / 1.23

If this rearranged:

percent total glycosylated A1 =

= (1.23 * (percent hemoglobin A1c)) + 0.14
