Fleet Phospho-Soda oral laxative may be associated with a significant electrolyte disorders which can be fatal. These should not be used in patients with certain underlying diseases or only used with caution.

Other absolute contraindications:
(1) ascites
(2) hypersensitivity to any component of the enema solution
(3) in a patient with nausea and/or vomiting
(4) in a patient with abdominal pain
Other relative contraindications:
(1) debilitation
(2) drugs associated with prolonged QT interval
(3) patient on a low salt diet
(4) pregnant woman or woman nursing a baby
(5) dehydration or significant risk of becoming dehydrated
(6) person unable to take an adequate oral fluid load to prevent dehydration
(7) gastric retention
If a person has relative contraindications to its use, then the following serum chemistries should be monitored before and after administration:
(1) sodium
(2) potassium
(3) calcium
(4) chloride
(5) bicarbonate
(6) phosphate
(7) BUN (or urea)
(8) creatinine
