Consensus Classification for Mastocytosis

 

Types:

(1) indolent

(2) associated with an hematologic disorder (with myelodysplasia or a myeloproliferative disorder)

(3) aggressive (lymphadenopathic mastocytosis and eosinophilia)

(4) mastocytic leukemia

 

Forms of indolent disease:

(1) syncope

(2) cutaneous disease

(3) peptic ulcer disease

(4) malabsorption

(5) aggregates in the bone marrow

(6) skeletal disease

(7) hepatosplenomegaly

(8) lymphadenopathy

 

Disorder	Survival
indolent	for decades
associated with hematologic disorder	variable, depending on the underlying hematologic disorder
aggressive, nonhematologic	poor prognosis
mast cell leukemia	fulminant with very poor prognosis
