Description

Mast cell proliferations can be classified based on the clinical findings and prognostic features.


 

Types:

(1) indolent

(2) associated with an hematologic disorder (with myelodysplasia or a myeloproliferative disorder)

(3) aggressive (lymphadenopathic mastocytosis and eosinophilia)

(4) mastocytic leukemia

 

Forms of indolent disease:

(1) syncope

(2) cutaneous disease

(3) peptic ulcer disease

(4) malabsorption

(5) aggregates in the bone marrow

(6) skeletal disease

(7) hepatosplenomegaly

(8) lymphadenopathy
