Composite Estimate of Rule et al for the GFR of a Patient with Chronic Kidney Disease

Description

Rule et al developed a series of equations for estimating the glomerular filtration rate for a patient with chronic kidney disease. One was a composite score that combined the results of separate GFR estimates based on serum creatinine and cystatin C. The authors are from the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.


 

Parameters:

(1) estimated GFR based on age, gender and serum creatinine concentration (see previous section)

(2) estimated GFR based on serum cystatin C concentration

= SQRT((estimated GFR based on serum creatinine)*(estimated GFR based on serum cystatin C))
