The CVI is a measure of precision., but it is difficult to get a good definition of. It also may be called the Coefficient of Variation Index, or the CVR.
CVI =
= (CV for laboratory) / (pool CV)
or
= (CV for laboratory for time period) / (peer group CV for time period)
Interpretation:
• Values > +2.0 or < -2.0 need to be investigated.
