Clinical Findings If Damaged

X (vagus)

ipsilateral paralysis of the palate, pharynx and vocal cords

XI (accessory)

ipsilateral weakness of the trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles

 

Additional findings:

(1) anesthesia of the pharynx and larynx
