Description

Dyke-Davidoff-Masson Syndrome (DDMS) occurs when there is damage to one lobe of the brain resulting in hemiatrophy.


 

Clinical features of Dyke-Davidoff-Masson Syndrome (DDMS):

(1) hemiatrophy of one cerebral hemisphere on imaging studies

(2) recurrent, often refractory, seizures

(3) facial asymmetry

(4) contralateral spastic hemiplegia or hemiparesis

(5) ipsilateral compensatory hypertrophy of the skull bone and sinuses (if cause occurred in utero or before the age of 2)

(6) mental retardation and developmental delay

(7) variable contralateral shortening of the digits
