Classification of Kohli and Miklos for Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF)

Kohli and Miklos developed a simple classification for vesicovaginal fistula. This can help guide patient management.

Classification of the fistula:

(1) simple (more straightforward)

(2) complicated

Parameters:

(1) diameter in cm

(2) location

(3) vaginal length

(4) history of radiation therapy to pelvis

(5) history of pelvic malignancy

Parameter	Simple (All of the Following)	Complicated (Any of the Following)
diameter	<= 3 cm	> 3 cm
location	supratrigonal (above the trigone)	involves the trigone, or distant from cuff
vaginal length	normal	decreased
history of radiation therapy to pelvis	no	yes
history of pelvic malignancy	no	yes
