Description

The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) assesses the type of behaviors portrayed in video games. It identifies behaviors that may not be appropriate for players of certain ages.

Nonviolent behaviors that may not be appropriate for all ages:

(1) gambling

(2) substance abuse (smoking, drinking, taking drugs)

(3) sexuality

(4) profanity

(5) abusive, derogatory or discriminatory speech

(6) criminal behaviors

Each of these behaviors can be classified as mild, moderate or severe.

The more severe and inappropriate the behavior the greater the need to restrict access to the material.
