Initial triage:
(1) nonpregnant
(2) pregnant
Nonpregnant woman:
(1) normal uterus, childbearing age
(2) atrophic uterus, postmenopausal
(3) uterus with pathologic lesion
Pregnant woman:
(1) clean therapeutic abortion
(2) completion of an incomplete abortion
(3) criminal or amateur abortion
Differential diagnosis:
(1) penetrating trauma
(2) blunt trauma with rupture
(3) rupture of a cesarean section scar
