Description

Bentley et al developed a classification and regression tree (CART) analysis for identifying a patient with low ADAMTS13 levels associated with thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). The authors are from the University of Utah and ARUP Laboratories in Salt Lake City.

Criteria for low ADAMTS13 activity: < 15% of normal

Parameters:

(1) serum creatinine in mg/dL

(2) reticulocyte count in percent

(3) platelet count per µL

(4) plasma D-dimer in µg/mL (mg/L)
