Description

Infection of decubitus ulcer includes both superficial and deep infection and can be diagnosed by meeting the following criteria.


 

Criteria - both of the following :

(1) at least 2 of the following:

(1a) redness

(1b) tenderness

(1c) swelling of wound edges

(2) at least one of the following:

(2a) organism isolated from culture of fluid obtained by needle aspiration

(2b) organism isolated from culture of tissue obtained by biopsy from the ulcer margin

(2c) organism isolated from blood culture
