Description

Scleromalacia perforans may be caused by a number of conditions.


 

Autoimmune disorders:

(1) rheumatoid arthritis

(2) systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)

(3) Wegener’s granulomatosus

(4) giant cell arteritis

(5) polyarteritis nodosa

(6) Behcet’s disease

(7) Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis

(8) graft vs host disease (GVHD)

(9) epidermolysis bullosa dystrophica

(10) relapsing polychondritis

(11) psoriasis

(12) scleroderma

(13) dermatomyositis

(14) Sjogren’s

 

Infectious diseases:

(1) tuberculosis

(2) leprosy

(3) Herpes simplex or Herpes zoster

(4) syphilis

 

Other:

(1) porphyria

(2) drugs (bisphosphonates, pamidronate, other)
