Description

One way of dosing a child is to give the proportion of the adult based on the child's body surface area (BSA) relative to that seen with the average adult.

pediatric dose =

= ((child's BSA in square meters) / 1.73) * (adult dose)

where:

• 1.73 is an adult BSA in square meters

Limitations:

• This method can work for some drugs, but does not work for all.
