Schistosomal eggs may trigger a fibroinflammatory response that can result in an intra-abdominal inflammatory pseudotumor.

Locations:
(1) paracecal region
(2) omentum
(3) mesenteric lymph nodes
(4) bowel wall
The pseudotumor shows extensive fibrosis with patchy chronic and granulomatous inflammation. Schistosomal eggs can usually be found if sufficient sections are taken.
