Description

Pfutze et al developed the Autoimmune Bullous Skin Disorder Intensity Score (ABSIS) for evaluating a patient with pemphigus. It consists of three subscores, one of which deals with symptoms associated with oral involvement. The authors are from Philipps-University in Marburg, Germany.


 

Patient selection: pemphigus

 

Oral regions:

(1) upper gingival mucosa

(2) lower gingival mucosa

(3) upper lip mucosa

(4) lower lip mucosa

(5) left buccal mucosa

(6) right buccal mucosa

(7) tongue

(8) floor of the mouth

(9) hard palate

(10) soft palate

(11) pharynx

= SUM(points for the 11 oral regions)

 

Interpretation:

• minimum score: 0

• maximum score: 11

• The higher the score the greater the oral involvement.
