Description

Strontium-89 is taken up by bone and can be used to palliate bone pain in patients with metastatic tumors. The simple clinical score can be used to assess the effectiveness of the treatment .


 

Patient selection:

(1) patients with bone metastases to more than 1 site

(2) pain no longer responsive to conventional therapy

(3) life expectancy of at least 3 months
