Description

A patient with dyslexia may develop a number of psychological problems as a result.


 

Psychological problems that may occur:

(1) anxiety

(2) depression

(3) poor self-esteem and/or shame

 

Situations that may amplify the problem:

(1) dyslexia not recognized, including teachers and parents are not aware of dyslexia

(2) teachers and/or parents shame the child or tell the child that s/he is stupid

(3) other comorbid conditions are present such as ADHD
