Description

Khanna et al reported the composite response index for systemic sclerosis (CRISS) for patients with diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis in a clinical trial. The probability of improvement can be estimated in those patients who do not show new or worsening findings. The index was proposed by the American College of Rheumatology (ACR).

Patient selection: diffuse cutaneous systemic sclerosis, not having new or worsening findings

Parameters:

(1) change in modified Rodnan skin score (mRSS)

(2) change in FVC as percent of predicted

(3) change in patient global assessment (from 0 to 150)

(4) change in the physician global assessment (from 0 to 10)

(5) change in the HAQ disability index (Health Assessment Questionnaire)

change in a parameter =

= (value at followup) – (value at baseline)

X =

= (-0.81 * (change in mRSS)) + (0.21 * (change FVC)) – (0.40 * (change in patient global assessment)) – (0.44 * (change in patient global assessment)) – (2.41 * (change in HAQDI)) – 5.54)

probability of improvement =

= 1 / (1 + EXP((-1) *X))
