Description

Kokudo et al developed the Albumin-Indocyanine Green Evaluation (ALICE) Grade for evaluating a patient prior to hepatic resection. The authors are from the University of Tokyo, Saitama Cancer Center, University Hospital Centre Hospitalier Universitaire Vaudois, Japanese Red Cross Medical Center, and University College London.

Patient selection: hepatocellular carcinoma prior to hepatic resection

Parameters:

(1) serum albumin in g/L

(2) indocyanine green retention rate at 15 minutes in percent (ICG R15)

linear predictor =

= (0.663 * LOG10(ICG R15)) - (0.0718 * (serum albumin))

Grade 2a

Grade 2b

> -1.39

Grade 3

The ALICE grade correlated with blood transfusion requirements and complications.
