Description

A person who uses a respirator should be retested for fit immediately if any change occurs that could affect the adequacy of the fit.


 

Person who may initiate the retest:

(1) the person her/himself

(2) a supervisor

 

Conditions that may alter the fit of a respirator:

(1) weight change of 20 pounds or more

(2) significant facial scarring in the area of the facepiece seal

(3) significant dental changes (multiple extractions, starting to wear dentures, etc.)

(4) reconstructive or cosmetic surgery

(5) for men (or bearded ladies), significant change in the amount or distribution of facial hair

(6) wearing eyeglasses or goggles that affect seating of a facepiece

(7) bandages

(8) any other condition that may interfere with the respiratory seal
